Principal Ellie Tariverdi Honors Her 2nd Grade Teachers
Wendy Kuo, Edna Ammons, and Nancy Martinez have collectively worked for Stratford School for over 10 years. They are a wonderful, energetic, and supportive group of teachers who bring lessons to life through hands-on activities, costumes, and props. They set high expectations for students through age appropriate activities while being sure to blend academics with fun. “Our second grade teachers are in-tune with each students’ individual needs; they tailor their teaching styles to ensure each student performs to the best of their ability; and they have excellent parent communication. Parents often thank me for my teachers’ transparency and inclusiveness.”
Fremont Curtis Is Great At Showing They Care
This Stratford campus “shows they care” by being a dedicated supporter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Pennies for Patients campaign. Each year, Stratford Fremont Curtis hosts their annual Jog-A-Thon in support of this special initiative. In 2014, the campus raised $18,200 - the most ever raised for LLS’s Greater Bay Area Chapter - making Stratford Fremont Curtis the number one fundraising school for 2013-2014. Stratford’s total contribution to the LLS is over $43,000.
Stratford’s school wide initiative, Stratford Cares, encourages all campuses and students to participate in at least one local and one global charity per year. “While academics is truly at Stratford’s core, we continually strive to raise intelligent, compassionate, and capable global citizens who will have a positive impact on our world.” - Sherry Adams, Founder and Chief Academic and School Culture Officer of Stratford School.
As part of Stratford Cares, Stratford Fremont Curtis also supports the Alameda County Food Bank by donating canned food during the month of November. In 2014, students of Stratford Fremont Curtis donated 2,736 pounds of food, surpassing the 1,275 pounds they donated the previous year. “It is important that our students learn how to be good global citizens. We remind them to be thankful for all that they have, and teach them how to give back to the less fortunate.” Kim Cullen - Principal, Stratford Middle School, Fremont
