This intense course is designed for students entering Grade 8 and Grade 9. The goal of this course is to prepare students for high-school freshman-level Honors Geometry and Honors Algebra 2 + Trigonometry. This summer course covers a year’s worth of course material in six weeks. Each daily class is 4 hours long and students are assigned 2 – 3 hours of mandatory daily homework and self-study exercises. Students take a quiz or test every day to assess mastery of completed subject material. Formal assessments include one mid-term and one final examination. At the end of the course, the student is assigned a grade. This class will prepare students to solve and graph equations and inequalities, and solve real-world problems involving linear, piecewise, exponential, and quadratic functions. Students will additionally learn fundamental concepts in probability and statistics.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Pre-Algebra, as demonstrated on the final/placement exam. Departmental approval required.
