Game Board Project
Eighth graders use a hands-on approach to learn electricity and magnetism.
In this lesson, Stratford eighth graders design, build, and demonstrate a basic game board using the essential 21st century skills of creativity, communication, critical thinking, and collaboration.
Because collaboration is key to the success of this project each member of student groups sign a team contract outlining what they promise each other.
Students also practice project management as they plan for different phases of the project (design, build, demonstrate), and have regular check-ins with teachers. A daily log is used during the build phase to keep the project on track.
Finally, student groups do a final demonstration to their classmates, to celebrate their success and practice presentation skills.
