Reopening and Reuniting at Stratford in the Age of COVID-19

As California counties have begun to allow schools to reopen for in-person instruction, many of Stratford’s schools are in the process of welcoming K-8 students back to campus, with stringent health and safety protocols in place.  Prospective families are invited to schedule a tour and learn more.

Seventh Grade

Stratford students "find their feet" in seventh grade.

For the first time, seventh graders are able to choose to focus their intellectual energy on computer science or specialty classes such as speech and debate, fine and performing arts, or French language - and to discover their individual interests and passions. Students really begin to understand what they love most about school and learning, and to determine what they will pursue in high school, college, and as a career.

Stratford seventh graders use the 21st century skills of communication, creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in every class. They delve deeply into complex problems, and work together to develop solutions. They learn to ask questions, and to always look for more information to inform their decisions and answers. Students have high aspirations for themselves, and are already looking forward to their very bright futures.

A Day in the Life: Stratford Middle School

Stratford School’s Middle School program continues to build a strong academic curriculum in core subjects to prepare and mentor students for high school. Middle school students also can choose electives in engineering, orchestra, French, computer science, and other specialty classes. Students are encouraged to participate in the extracurricular activities included in our Leadership Program. The schedule below offers a detailed look at what your middle school student will be learning and doing every day.
Middle School Leadership Program
The Middle School Leadership program at Stratford School helps middle school students discover their passion. Activities in the program are largely run by students, with a faculty advisor to help guide and develop students’ leadership skills. Girls can discover a love of coding in our She ++ coding club, and athletes can practice their skills on sports teams. Students use skills they’ve learned in language arts, writing, and technology to create the school newspaper and yearbook. Middle school theatrical productions are polished and professional, and Stratford students practice speaking in public in Speech and Debate.
