Creative and Performing Arts Camps

Give your child the opportunity for self-expression and talent building with Stratford's Creative and Performing Arts workshops.  Students will enjoy a variety of offerings which allow them to pursue their individual interests while learning fundamental skills in music, strategy, performance, critical thinking, and artistic voice and presentation.

Southern California Camps

Broadway Musical Theater Camp 

Students will work with a master teacher to perform a Jr. version of a musical or create a Broadway Showcase or Revue. During the session, students will choose to participate in either Onstage team or a Backstage team. 

The Onstage team will focus on singing, acting, and dancing. Expert performers will be introducted at various stages. The Backstage team will focus on wardrobe, set design, and stage production. Event coordinateors will plan and execute the Red Carpet premier of their show. 

Intensive Short Film Camp

Students will work with a master teacher to create a short film. During the session, students will choose to participate in either an In Front of Camera team or a Behind the Scenes team. 

The In Front of Camera team will focus on acting, script writing, and media training. The Behind the Scenes team will learn about various roles, such as: director, producer, camera person, location scout and set designer, wardrobe, hair and makeup artists, and editor. Event coordinators will plan and execute the Premier! 

Field Experts will be introduced at various stages. These experts will be credible and known in their field. 

The Short Film camp will end with a Red Carpet premier of their film!

Northern California Camps

Hidden Talent  (1-8)

Hidden Talent Art teaches the seven elements of art and focuses on realism. This course will introduce high-quality, college-level fine art media to elementary students. Each student will gain observation skills and fine art vocabulary while exploring his or her creative side. Each day will contain fresh challenges where both new and experienced artists will learn techniques in drawing, painting, sculpting, and mixed media. Each day of camp includes two projects. Tuition covers all necessary materials.

Improv  (3-8)

Experience the power of play, and the fun of improvisational comedy in a dynamic and safe environment. Summer@Stratford offers a comprehensive improv program, providing students with a strong foundation in improvisational performance that promotes innovation and personal growth.  Students will improve listening and public speaking skills, build confidence in front of their peers, and exercise their creative muscles!  These skills will be developed through various improvisational games and exercises, and the formation of a student-led performance troupe.

DJ in the Making (4-8)

Musical exploration is the main focus of this class as students find their own “niche” in the music world and create unique offerings. This course will introduce students to the world of music and teach them to mix, synthesize, and produce.   A school-wide dance party will be led by student DJs at the end of the course.  Students will need headphones for this class.

Musical Theater (6-8 SRMS)

Does your child have unlimited energy and creativity?  Does he or she sing along to favorite songs and movies?  Ending with a performance showcase for friends and families, Stratford’s drama program will teach budding actors skills in singing, dancing, acting, prop and set design, and stage direction.  This collaborative experience will give students confidence in performing, stage presence, and public speaking.  This course will challenge and inspire your little movie star!

Orchestra (6-8 SRMS)

Our Orchestra Exploration program provides students with a chance to learn more about musical instruments, in a fast-paced, team environment.  This 3-week program is designed for beginner or intermediate players. Students with previous experience will be encouraged to refine their talents, and new players will enjoy a good foundation upon which they can build musical skills.  Learning will focus on fun, skill building, practice, and music notation.

Speech and Debate (4-8)

If your student likes to argue, this is the perfect class!  Speech and Debate instructors will guide students through the processes of research, writing, and performance that are required to be effective at public speaking.  Students will learn how to articulate and support their ideas about current events.  Through the process of carefully preparing statements, students will also learn confidence and patience skills.

Yes for Chess (1-8)

The Yes for Chess program teaches students how to apply chess skills to life-long learning opportunities.  Students will study the rules and strategies of chess and practice their skills with worthy opponents. As a result of taking part in this class, students will emerge with a deeper understanding of the game, as well as critical thinking and problem solving skills, better concentration, and patience.
