Choosing Stratford School Sunnyvale De Anza Park

We recognize that parents have numerous options for their child’s education. Why do families choose Stratford School and stay with us until their child graduates? It’s because so many wonderful things happen at our private preschool and elementary school. Let us tell you more!

Our Special Projects

Community Outreach

Our Student Council works hard to help the community by planning fundraisers for our students to participate in and support important causes. Every year, they raise money for groups like Kiva and the American Heart Association (AHA). Our De Anza Park campus is usually a top fundraising school for AHA. We’re also proud to host the Andrew Polcyn Ball Drive, an event that honors and remembers a former student by providing sports equipment to the Boys and Girls Club.

End-of-Year Sports Assembly

At the end of each school year, we celebrate our students’ hard work and character at our Sports Assembly. At this special event, we present awards to students that include Sportsperson of the Year, Model Athlete, and Citizen of the Year. These honors show not just athletic skill, but also teamwork, leadership, and honesty. Students who meet the Gold level on their fitness test are also recognized and cheered on by their classmates and families.

Shakespeare Festival

Each spring, our 5th grade students welcome the San Francisco Shakespeare Festival to campus. The visiting performers not only stage an engaging production but also lead interactive workshops that bring Shakespeare’s works to life. Through these hands-on experiences, students gain a deeper appreciation for literature, language, and performance while building confidence in their own creative expression. This annual tradition inspires a love of the arts and connects students to the timeless lessons found in classic works.

Public Speaking

All year long, our students get chances to build confidence by practicing public speaking. Whether they’re speaking in front of their class, the whole school, or adults, they learn how to speak clearly and with emotion and meaning. During our priority re-enrollment period, our students share their own school experiences with new parents. This gives parents the chance to hear directly from our students and our students the opportunity to become more confident in their skills. These moments help students become better speakers, feel proud of what they’ve learned, and inspire others at the same time.

Character Counts

At the end of each month, our school gathers for the Character Counts assembly, where we celebrate the values that help us grow as people. During this event, one student from each class is chosen for showing good character, leadership, and kindness. What makes it extra special is that a classmate gives the award and explains why their friend deserves it. This tradition helps everyone feel proud, while also teaching us to be kind, respectful, and supportive of each other.
