Middle School

The Curiosity to Imagine. The Courage to Pursue.

Our private middle school provides a positive and encouraging space filled with energy and innovation. Students rotate classes on a weekly schedule, gaining a sense of independence and responsibility. At this stage, teachers serve not only as instructors but also as mentors, as students take greater ownership of their learning. They strengthen their inquiry, problem-solving, and public speaking skills, and learn to interact with confidence.

With a growth mindset, they are encouraged to explore new ideas and pursue their passions. Our after-school clubs allow students to expand their interests and build community. Above all, we create a safe and welcoming space where our students feel inspired to be themselves and give their best every day.

Stratford’s Middle School program includes robust science and mathematics, along with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem solving.

Middle School students delve deeply into complex problems, and work together to develop solutions. They learn to ask questions, and to always look for more information to inform their decisions and answers.

Stratford’s intentional approach to educating the whole child results in young adults who are gifted communicators, skilled and generous collaborators, and creative problem solvers.

Stratford Middle School students graduate prepared to excel at outstanding high schools and beyond.

In 7th and 8th grade, students study U.S. and world history. They dive deeper into key events such as the Spanish-American War, World War I, and World War II.

Students in middle school have the option to study Spanish or Mandarin. Spanish courses begin with Spanish 1 and help our students build fluency and use basic grammar. Mandarin classes begin with basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students also explore everyday vocabulary and expressions, starting with vocabulary and pronunciation. They then move into more advanced speaking, reading, and writing. The program focuses on cultural awareness, building confidence, and using skills in real life, preparing students for advanced study.
