Our School

Welcome to Stratford School San Bruno Crestmoor Canyon

At our school, we don’t just teach—we transform how children learn and grow. As one of San Bruno’s best private preschools and elementary schools, our school is like no other. Our strong focus on exceptional academics and student-centered learning means every child is seen, supported, and empowered. Our teachers build a caring space where our students feel safe, cared for, and ready to learn. Through hands-on activities, exciting lessons, and the latest technology, we prepare your child for the future. We are proud to be fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Just as important as academic success is the strong sense of community we foster. We believe that children thrive best when families, teachers, and school leaders work in partnership. Here, your child won’t just meet expectations, they will exceed them… with a community cheering them on every step of the way.

Charitable Giving

We are more than a school; we are a community. Through our Stratford Cares initiative, students develop an appreciation for what they have, increase their self-esteem, show gratitude toward others, build leadership skills, and see the positive impact of their actions. From supporting local food banks to organizing toy drives, our efforts span a wide range of causes. Most notably, Stratford School has donated over $2 million to the American Heart Association, a remarkable lifetime contribution that reflects the power of compassion and collective action

Do Stratford campuses take the CAASPP test, or do they use another type of assessment?
Stratford campuses do not take part in the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress) testing used in California public schools. Instead, as a private school, Stratford uses the Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP), a nationally standardized test created by the Educational Records Bureau (ERB). The CTP measures student success in core subjects and offers valuable insight into student growth over time. It guides our teaching while keeping learning consistent across grade levels.

How is technology used in the classroom?
At Stratford School, technology is woven into classroom learning to spark creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. From the early grades, students explore age-appropriate digital tools through our STEAM-based program, including coding, research, and multimedia projects. At the same time, they learn to use technology responsibly. Guided by their teachers, they build the skills and confidence to thrive as empowered digital citizens in a changing world.

How does Stratford foster social-emotional learning and character development?
At Stratford School, we believe success in learning goes hand in hand with strong character and emotional health. Each day, students practice social-emotional skills like self-awareness, kindness, and teamwork. Teachers guide them through lessons and daily interactions, showing how to manage emotions, make good choices, and treat others with respect. Schoolwide themes, group activities, and character assemblies give students more chances to practice these values. In this caring environment, children grow into confident, kind individuals who are ready to make a positive impact.
