"I aim to inspire my students to be passionate about learning."
Irene Cedillo brings over ten years of teaching experience to her role as a Spanish teacher at Stratford's new San Francisco 14th Ave campus, which will open for the 2018/19 School Year. Prior to joining Stratford School, Irene was one of 30 bilingual teachers selected out of over 800 applicants for the SFUSD Pathway to Teaching program, an intensive summer-long training program that combined classroom work with hands-on experience leading my own SFUSD summer school classroom.
Irene aims to inspire her students to be passionate, creative, and to think critically. She meets students where they are at, and uses a personalized approach to help each of her students with participation, active listening and classroom engagement. Through dynamic cycles of inquiry, action and reflection, Irene empowers her students to achieve both academic and personal success.
According to Irene, her goal at Stratford can be summarized with a Piaget quote: “The principal goal of education in the schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done.”
