Students build on strong foundational skills gained in elementary school and begin moving into increasingly sophisticated mathematics. Stratford offers multiple pathways, allowing students to progress into advanced coursework while maintaining the foundational understanding needed for long-term success. The pathways begin with Pre-Algebra and can progress through Algebra II and Trigonometry, depending on the student’s proficiency and readiness. Our math curriculum emphasizes logical reasoning, mathematical precision, application of concepts, and multi-step problem-solving skills. Our research-based instructional practices help each student develop the depth of understanding, confidence, and mathematical habits needed for advanced high school math, up to and beyond AP Calculus, as well as equip them to apply those skills across coursework in chemistry, physics, robotics, and engineering and beyond.

Science
Students build their scientific knowledge and begin investigating increasingly complex systems, relationships, and real-world problems. They draw on ideas across scientific disciplines as they take an active role in investigating phenomena, analyzing data, identifying patterns, considering cause-and-effect relationships, and developing claims supported by evidence. In every grade, students explore in depth concepts interwoven across all four core disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Earth Science. (E.g., Heat: Physical science covers the topic of heat transfer; in chemistry, how heat influences chemical reactions and states of matter; and in biology, heat is covered in the topics of cellular respiration and homeostasis).
Students learn to use science to understand interconnected systems, evaluate evidence, design solutions, and make informed decisions about complex problems.
